Welcome to my Gym, Kyle's Gym! The Ultimate Home Gym!
Yo. Welcome to my gym. Kyle's gym. I created this site as a means to get motivated to work out at home. It's all about keeping it interesting right? That's going to be way cool when people start uploading videos doing the same excersizes as me, and beating me! Especially if they're girls. I saw this one little 140 lbs girl on Shemusle.com bench 225 7x slowly with good form! Kyle's gym is basically about me recording how strong I am so I always have a record to beat when I work out. So I can work as hard as I can. I've got two columns where I have my first time and my record. So far I've only done each excersize around two times, the first the the best. A few of them I've done three times. There is a huge 24 Hour Fitness a mile from where I live now at the Hancock Center in Austin so I quit lifting at home and started going there once I got really into it. I'm sure this site will come in use to some hillbillies out in the boondocks where there aren't any gyms in site. Read below about some of the thingies about my site: Working out don't take no money or space materials wise Yeah so all I have in my site are 45's, 35's, 25's, 15's and 10's on the dumbells, a $120 bench, an air ball, a roller and a pullup bar. You can fit all that under you're bed and only costs a couple hundred bucks. So go get it! Working out at home There's a lot to be said about working out at home. For example what if you live out in the middle of nowhere? It would be unrealistic to drive hours just to work out at a mega gym, and a small gym with old machines can be too annoying to be worth it. Plus at home you can film yourself and at my gym, for example, you can't. That's all I have to say about that. The more the excersizes the merrier I have like 325 excersizes on my site. The main reason that I do is when I couldn't break a record on one excersize, why I would just invent a new one you know? But apart from that, the more the excersizes the merrier because it works more muscles and thusly makes you a more well rounded athlete. I have three main different kinds of excersizes: 1) Dumbells - Dumbells are good because they isolate certain muscle groups and also work other muscle groups. For example, with standing curls you are isolating your biceps and also working your shoulders some. Mixing heavy and light dumbells is good because you can practice your form on the lighter weights and also doing what it takes to get those weights up on the heavier ones. Dumbells are good for building muscle. 2) Bodyweight - Bodyweight excersizes are good for building muscle like dumbells, but it's also good to have a lot of bodyweight excersizes to do for when you aren't big and muscular. You could lose weight from doing a lot of cardio and still be able to break your personal bests which is encouraging. 3) Yoga - For me yoga is about building strength and flexibility. Not just physical strength but mental strenght. With weight lifting you hit your limits when you simply can't lift the weight anymore, but with isometric holds you are more likely to just give up. When you have a record to break you find youself in the interesting situation of pushing yourself farther than you ever have, or ever even though you could. This is very good training for other endevors such as hanging on someones wheel on a bike ride, or not giving up on a long adventure. No pain no gain Those who push themselves are those who are the biggest and strongest. If you've ever seen Lou Ferrigno in that movie Pumping Iron staring Arnold Swartzenegger you'll know what I'm talking about. That burning sensation you feel when you pump a muscle is there for a reason. It's telling you that your muscle fibers are tearing and lactice acid is building up. Once that acid circulates out and the muscle rebuilds itself you will be bigger and stronger. If you go to the gym and just lollygag it without getting any muscle burn you simply won't get the results you want in the limited amount of time you have in there. Speaking of limited time. I will have crossfit excersizes on my site also, which are the perfect way to work yourself to the maximun in no time at all. Those crossfit people are geniuses! Comparing your self with others is what life is all about Unfortunately I feel like I'm the only one around who understands the importance of comparing yourself to other people. I'm not talking about comparing your life to other people's lives, I'm talking about comparing your strenght to other people's in all of the excersizes. There are specialists in everything and so there will always be someone better than you at something, and that is a good thing because it sets a high mark for you to go after. You may not want to be as strong as the best person at something, but as soon as people start doing more of what I do there will always be someone out there who you feel like you can beat. I love finding videos of people doing the same excersizes as me and beating me, especially the girls! That's hot. I've got columns ready for videos of people who I see who are the best at each excersize I have on my site, but the videos just aren't there yet. I don't understand it. Everytime I open up an excersize magazine or read about some fitness experts excersize routing, it only includes the excersizes they do and has no mention of how strong they actually are. All I care about is how strong they are so I can see if I can beat them. If they leave that out I get frustraded, throw my hands up in the air and feel like I'm on a planet full of embiciles. It really bothers me and I don't understand it. I think I must be an alien, oh well. There's no wrong way to do an excersize A lot of people have mentioned on my videos that I'm doing an excersize wrong. Like how I'm swinging too much, or going too fast or too slow, or even that I will hurt myself. There is an infinite number of ways excersize! This is the exact reason I film myself and challenge other people to do the same. Someone can claim that they can squat 315 lbs 10x but without a video, as far as I'm concerned, it doesn't mean anything. They could be talking about half squating. You need the video. If someone thinks they can beat me then they should just shut up and DO IT already. Duh! If you think I'm doing it wrong than show me the right way to do it with as many reps with better form and you will be stronger. Then I can just make that another excersize. It's pretty simple. Some people have mentioned that I will hurt myself on some of my videos where I arch my back. Thanks for warning people about that. I can assure you though that I won't hurt myself because I know my limits. If anyone else hurts themselves after watching my videos then I will feel bad, but I don't think that will happen. People are smarter than that. Don't be so paranoid. So show me what Chu got! Doggystyle!!! Working out at the gym At the time of this writting (9-18-09) I have been working out at the gym for six or eight months or something like that, with the exception of a month and a half when I took time off from Jaundice, and when I took a month and a half off recently from my Internet Audio Encyclopedia, and I have come up with some various ways to lift that keep it interesting that I will share. Supersetting - Supersetting is the best way to work out at the gym when you are out of shape. It works great when you are in a huge gym with lots of different machines. Supersetting is where you do a machine with one muscle group and then go to another machine for the same muscle group. For example I have like a half dozen different abdominal excersizes that I do all at once. Sometimes I mix it up though. When you're out of shape you're not always that interested in working to failure and feeling the burn because there are a lot of toxins and rotten lactic acid in your muscles and working out isn't fun because of the uncomftorble feeling of circulating all of that nasty stuff out. After a couple weeks though it starts to be very pleasurable. With supersetting you get to experiment with different ways of moving your body and feeling that burn within your limits and not having to worry about how many reps you can do. Dropsetting - Dropsetting is for when you are in shape and you want to get maximum benefit from the workout. You could do ten reps at the highest weight you can do, then drop it five pounds and immediatelly do ten more reps, drop it again and do ten more, and go all the way down as quickly as you can. The burn is tremendous and by the time you get to the lowest weight, if you use good form, you're muscles will be completely depleted and you will barely be able to lift it. Crossfit type workouts - Crossfit workouts are even more intense than dropsetting because you are not only gettin muscle burn, but a good heart pounding cardio workout at the same time because you are doing a certain number of reps as fast as you can. It's hard core. Check out they're website or they're excersizes on my site here when they are up. I think it's crossfit.com. My typical work out schedule at the gym At the giant 24 Hour Fitness I go to I usually go every day for hour hours. I didn't today because I was tired from just starting up again after a month and a half off. I have a problem getting myself involved in time consuming projects, like this one, and losing track. I think those days are over though. Usually when I go to the gym I start with a half hour or jogging five kilometers on the treadmill to work up a sweat. That's about how fast I can run at my present weight of 190 lbs without injuring my left achilles tendon. I just don't have strong achilles tendons. They were sore for about three weeks this last time I took time off from excersizing. Then I do my half hour stretch routine which you can find on my site here. Then I'm off for three hours of lifting. Hoorah! In a couple months I will stop lifting though and become a bike/running gypsy which will result in me losing about 30 lbs. I am looking forward to doing that. I want to get into the 24 hour bike racing scene for the next couple years to see how good I can be at that. I'm really excited. I haven't biked since the invention of the mp3. Like eight years!!! Lord god. Oh well. Peace out! Doggy style!!!
